What Should I Eat?

 

The type of food you should be focused on eating on the Candida Cleanse Diet includes natural unprocessed foods that are sugar free. I will better elaborate on each category of foods and how it fits into the Candida cleanse diet below.

Vegetables

 

These include all vegetables except for the ones high in sugar such as carrots, potatoes, and tomatoes. Leafy green vegetables are your best option on the Candida Cleanse Diet, as well as foods such as broccoli, asparagus, okra and onions.

 

Focus attention on incorporating vegetables into every meal if possible whether it be by juicing or making large stews with a strong vegetable base.


NOTE:
Eating Raw vegetables is an option for those who wish to pursue the raw food diet, however in our opinion this may not always be the best option for everyone, as some people have difficulty digesting some raw vegetables.

 

We suggest lightly steaming all your vegetables. Also keep in mind if you have difficulty in eating large amounts of vegetables you can always use a juicer to allow yourself the ability to drink your vegetables. As the saying goes “Drink your vegetables and chew your fruits”.

 

 

Fruits

 

Fruits are potentially the trickiest subject for those on the Candida Cleanse Diet. Numerous experts claim to avoid them entirely and many others are saying to eat them in abundance. It’s our belief that there is a middle ground in everything.

 

The obvious problem with fruits is that they can contain high amounts of fructose (sugar) which will directly feed yeast in the body and cause it to grow.

 

However this is not always true for all fruits and there are cases where some individuals will in fact do better eating moderate amounts of fruit than they will by consuming grains (All grains convert to simple sugars in the end which will also encourage yeast growth).

 

The fruits we recommend to use freely are lemons & limes as they can both greatly assist your liver in detoxification while also being virtually free of sugar. We suggest you experiment with fruits such as berries, green apples, & grapefruits to see how you initially react.

 

NOTE: Always consume fruits on an empty stomach. When eating with food it will encourage fermentation of food which will further assist Candida and fungal growths in the body. At minimum consume fruit 3 hours after food or 1 hour before meals.

 
 

Meat

 

Lean meats such as chicken, turkey and fish are great, and ideally should be organic or free range. It’s the hormones in meat which cause all the problems, so eating lean meats which are not injected with additional hormones is tremendously helpful. 

 

Processed cold-cuts and pork should be avoided. Meat is not mandatory on the Candida Cleanse Diet and vegetarians can do quite well on the diet, however for many people meat will still be a staple of the diet. Protein can be obtained through pea, hemp & brown rice protein powders in addition to consuming higher vegetarian protein foods.

 
 

Grains

 

These include quinoa, millet, amaranth, buckwheat and sometimes brown rice. For the first 2-4 weeks it can also be ideal to minimize grains as well so to completely inhibit any sugars going through your body which could feed the yeast.

 

While on the diet you can consume 2-3 servings maximum per day of these grains a serving size generally being considered to be about the size of your fist.

Top Foods to Buy Organic

 

The following are foods should be consumed in their organic form as often as possible. These foods rank the highest for pesticides, herbicides, chemicals, hormones and antibiotics.

 

If you can’t always eat organic, but if you have a choice we recommend you opt for organic.  

 

Strawberries – They rank the highest for commercial fruits for pound of pesticides per acre at 302 lbs/acre. 
Peaches
Dates
Pears
Cabbage
Lemons
Apples
Cucumbers
Celery
Spinach
Peppers – Any type.
All meats – These include all red meats such as beef, and chicken, turkey, fish. We recommend you avoid pork and cold cuts entirely.
Root vegetables – These include sweet potatoes, carrots, and potatoes.

 

 

Eating Non-Organics

 

The following commercial fruits and vegetables are known to have the least amount of chemicals and are okay to eat on the Anti-Candida Diet. The bottom line is unless you want to eat all organic, save your money and just buy the non-organic forms of these foods.

 
Asparagus
Avocados
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Onions
Sweet Peas
Pecan
Garlic

 

You should now have a great idea of what you CAN eat on the Candida Cleanse Diet. Fresh cracked nuts are ok, however nuts can easily harbor mold as well and for this reason we recommend caution with all nuts.

 

Remember that the key is truly embracing a whole food diet with minimal processed foods or foods which contain a large amount of sugars and starch. However even doing the diet perfectly will NOT be enough to eliminate Candida from your life.
